A growing project is easier to work with when you can find the material you need. We can organise footage into bins, make sense of sequences and establish a structure that suits the way you shoot and edit.
Premiere, formerly known as Premiere Pro, can support many different kinds of video. Rather than cover every tool, we’ll choose a useful starting point based on your experience and the videos you want to make.

Shape a story, one decision at a time
Editing is about choosing what the audience sees and hears, and when. We can look at the structure of your sequence, try different cuts and discuss how timing changes the meaning or energy of a scene.
Bring your own project to make those choices concrete. We can work through a section together, or use a guided exercise if you would prefer to practise away from a live deadline. Ask questions as we go; the explanation and pace can adapt to you.

Build a workflow you can return to
A useful lesson connects the edit to the finished output. We can consider the destination of your video, prepare an export and understand the settings relevant to YouTube, social media or delivery to a client.
If you already edit, we can concentrate on a stage that feels slow or uncertain. Tell me about your software version, current process and goals so we can agree a practical focus, whether that is organising a project, reviewing an edit or preparing different versions.

How your private lesson works
- Choose your focus. Tell me your software, experience and what you want to learn. Bring a project, choose guided practice or ask me to suggest a learning route.
- Choose your session. Select a duration and available time in the booking panel. Prices are shown in GBP before you book. If you are unsure what suits you, enquire first.
- Learn together online. We use screen sharing to work through your questions, explore techniques and practise at your pace. The session can adapt as questions arise; you do the work with guidance, rather than simply watch a demonstration.

Are these live, private lessons?
Yes. You work one-to-one with Charlie online, with screen sharing, questions and practical guidance adapted to you. These Premiere sessions are live tuition rather than a recorded course.
What do I need for an online lesson?
A computer with your chosen software, a reliable internet connection and a way to speak and share your screen during the session. Tell me your software version and any relevant hardware or access needs before booking so we can agree a suitable session.
Why choose private tuition rather than tutorials or a recorded course?
Tutorials can be a useful starting point. A live private lesson lets you ask follow-up questions, explore why a technique works and apply it to your own project. I can adapt the explanation and pace as we go, rather than asking you to follow a fixed sequence of steps.
Do I need to follow a set curriculum?
No. I can suggest a structured learning route if you would like one, or build the session around your project, questions and goals. We check what you already know and fill in the gaps, with time to practise rather than simply watch a demonstration.
Can I bring my own project?
Yes. Bring your footage, edit or graphics project and the questions you want to work through. If you are starting from scratch, we can use a guided example instead.
How long are sessions, and what do they cost?
Choose 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes. The booking panel shows the total GBP price for each duration. A shorter session suits a focused question; a longer one gives more time for guided practice.
Can I book from outside the UK?
Yes. Lessons are delivered remotely and are available to international clients. Check the available times or enquire about your time zone and availability before booking.
Can I bring footage from my own project?
Yes. Tell me what you are working on and what you want to learn. We can use your project as a starting point or choose a guided example that covers the relevant techniques.
Can I learn animation alongside editing?

Can we work through a problem in my project?
Yes—tell me what’s happening and what you’d like to achieve. We can investigate it together and explore possible solutions. Some issues depend on the source files, software or hardware, so a specific fix can’t be guaranteed.

You’re not alone. Following someone else’s steps is one thing; knowing how to apply them to your own project is another.
We’ll start with what you already know and what you want to create. Ask questions, fill in the gaps and explore different approaches with someone who can adapt the explanation to you.

I’m Charlie, founder of Folded Space, a professional video editor and motion designer, a certified Final Cut Pro trainer, and a former Lead Creative at Apple. I spent ten years in a lead training role at Apple and have delivered more than 10,000 hours of technical and creative training, helping people of all abilities turn unfamiliar tools into useful skills.
