Video across the
customer journey.

Training Team Lead → Video LeadIn-house at Perkbox

From 2018 to 2023, my work at Perkbox developed from leading customer training to creating video for the wider business. I started as Training Team Lead within customer success, shifting our approach towards instructional design and educational content as demand outgrew our capacity for live sessions.

As that content began to be used by marketing and sales, my role naturally developed into Video Lead within marketing. I created hundreds of videos spanning product explainers, customer stories, thought leadership, live events, webinars and practical help-centre content.

Making the product clear

I conceived and produced “Perkbox in 60 Seconds”, the flagship explainer used on the homepage. The original film received two million views across all channels.

Although the original film has since been replaced as the branding and product evolved, its format continued to shape the homepage hero video.

Alongside the headline explainer, I created more detailed videos showing how particular products and features worked, and the benefits they offered. This gave the business video content for different stages of the customer journey.

Bringing expertise to the screen

I created a thought-leadership series comprising 45 videos released over two years, with more than 82,000 views across the series.

Production took place during the COVID period, combining remote direction with in-person filming later in the series. For remote contributors, I guided them towards the best results possible while retaining the character of a remote conversation.

That approach also made it possible to include colleagues beyond the local team. A field marketer in Australia contributed the most-viewed episode, accounting for 47,000 of the series’ 82,000-plus views.

The work also included interview-led pieces that I filmed and edited.

Letting customers tell the story

I produced five customer video case studies for use in sales content.

For this featured example, I owned the project from concept and planning through filming, editing, custom motion graphics and distribution. The format combined a customer interview with motion graphics to support the story.

Supporting events and existing customers

I filmed and edited content for live events, including the “Perkbox In Person” series, and created short speaker clips for social media.

I also hosted, recorded and edited customer webinars, with shorter excerpts published to YouTube. Alongside this, I produced help-centre videos explaining practical tasks such as resetting passwords, setting preferences and using the product.

The help-centre content has since changed, and full event recordings were gated. The examples here show the shorter content shared publicly.

Reusable production assets

More consistency. Fewer bottlenecks.

When I first joined Perkbox, much of my work involved producing training videos. I created more than 200 Final Cut Pro templates to make those videos faster to produce and keep the work consistent across the other video editors I managed.

The reusable template system reduced production bottlenecks and gave the team a shared set of assets. This logo animation was one part of that wider approach.
